A new German/Finnish study outlines a scenario in which the world could transition to 100% renewable energy by 2050 and limit human-induced climate change in the process. Solar would play a major role, contributing 68% to the green power mix. Getting there fast enough would, according to the research, require FiTs for projects up to 40 MW, auction schemes for larger plants, the removal of subsidies for fossil and nuclear energy and easing up policy for the development of renewables.
