Brazil’s Ministry of Mines and Energy announced today it has rescheduled for October 17 the A-6 energy auction, previously planned for September 26.
The decree published in the Official Gazette does not mention any specific reason for the postponement.
June 11 is the new deadline for investors and interested parties to submit projects for registration by state-owned energy research firm EPE, with an exception for natural gas schemes. The previous deadline was May 17.
The ministry has said previously that renewable projects technically qualified in this year’s A-4 could re-enter the A-6 tender.
The auction will award power purchase agreements (PPA) with a 30-year term for hydropower, a 20-year term for wind and solar, and a 25-year term for biomass, coal and natural gas power sources. Electricity supply is scheduled to start on January 1, 2025.
