Soltec, manufacturer and supplier of horizontal single-axis solar trackers and related services in large ground-mount PV projects, is opening a new research and evaluation center at its US headquarters in the city of Livermore, California. According to the company, the Bifacial Tracker Evaluation Center (BiTEC) will »perform rigorous assessment of installation and control parameter influences on bifacial tracker performance compared to other PV applications.«
Soltec and BiTEC are collaborating with the U. S. Department of Energy’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), furthermore with engineering, construction and consulting company Black & Veatch and the Renewable Energy Test Center (RETC). Solar panels manufacturers such as Canadian Solar, Hanwha Q Cells, Jinko, Longi and REC are providing their bifacial modules for BiTEC’s tests, says the company.
