Solar energy plant begins operations in Massachusetts

A 4.5 MW solar power plant entered operations April 25 in Massachusetts.

The Westford Solar Park is considered one of New England’s largest privately owned solar power facilities. It uses more than 14,000 solar panels and is situated on 22 acres in Westford, Mass.

Cathartes was Westford Solar Park’s lead developer. Nexamp, in addition to being an equity partner, was the primary development consultant and builder and will operate the plant.

National Grid connects Westford Solar Park to the company’s distribution system, purchasing the energy through the state’s net-metering law. The University of Massachusetts-Lowell is an off-taker of Westford Solar Park’s power.
